I was at the park yesterday. A young boy was hard at work sculpting a sandcastle, until his mother called:
“Time to go home, dear.”
“No, I wanna stay longer.”
“Are you gonna get grumpy just because you’re not getting your way?”
The son relented peaceably and they got going. They held hands on the way, so I got a kind impression of the mother. I’m sure she had a valid reason for wanting to leave. She has a host of responsibilities that her child is ignorant of.
But who was it, really, that got grumpy because they weren’t getting their way?
